And this is where it all begins.
One beautiful spring day, I was leaving the little college I went to, and was walking up to my car....when I looked down at the ground and behind my rear tire was a little fluffy black thing. At first I thought it was a little stuffed animal or something, but upon closer inspection....it was a KITTEN!! He didn't even have his eyes open, and his ears were glued to his head still. He fit in the palm of my hand. I looked around for a concerned mama cat, but saw nothing. I'm not sure what happened to her, but this little guy wasn't going to make it long without her.
With the guidance of a good friend of mine, I learned how to bottle-feed, stimulate, and care for the little guy, and the madness began!!
Since I was going to school for 8 hours every day, I couldn't care for him during the day, so every morning, I would wake up extra early and drop him off at David's mom's house, where his sister Jenny would care for him during the day, and after school, I would drive back over there and pick him up and take him home and care for him at night. It was hectic, but I was willing to do anything for this little guy. He was so helpless.
With daycare help from Jenny, he grew and he grew. He was so playful, and got into plenty of kitten trouble.
Jenny fell in love with him, and ended up wanting to adopt him for herself! To this day I still visit little Gunner at Jenny's house, and he is a little fatty!!!
Because of this, I learned how good it feels to raise a kitten that wouldn't have had a chance. And I continue to do it to this day!!!
